How this Brazil guide is being built and how to use it responsibly.
Wildlife of Brazil is a growing, species-first field guide covering mammals, birds, reptiles and amphibians across the country’s major biomes.
This first edition focuses on a curated set of recognisable and regionally important species, paired with fifteen practical wildlife destinations. The catalogue is deliberately smaller than Brazil’s true vertebrate diversity and will be expanded through the same checked data workflow used by the other Wildlife of Everywhere guides.
Scientific names are checked against specialist sources including the Mammal Diversity Database, IOC World Bird List, Reptile Database and Brazilian biodiversity resources. Occurrence records are evidence, not proof: unusual records and taxonomic changes need editorial review before publication.
Species pages currently use clear photo-needed placeholders. Documentary images will only be added when their individual licence and attribution are verified. The home-page panorama is an editorial illustration and is labelled as such.
Access, permits, river levels, fire conditions and road quality can change quickly. Check current advice with park authorities and reputable local guides. Never feed wildlife, approach nests or dens, play calls excessively, or disclose sensitive locations.
The trip planner and sightings log save information in your browser on this device. They do not require an account.
